PORTFOLIO OF STUDENT WORK
Guerrilla Text Intervention Workshop
Intervention with moveable sign letters
Students completed a collaborative writing workshop, resulting in text that was installed on an abandoned sign along Rt. 66 in Albuquerque, NM.
Protest Inflatables Workshop
Public intervention with inflatable plastic sculptures
Students studied examples of large inflatable sculptures used in protests and guerrilla interventions. They then collaborated to make their own inflatables, which they installed in different locations around campus.
Picket Sign Workshop Series
Performance series with found object sculptures and picket signs
Using images of protest as inspiration, students explored picket signs as a method of generating written and visual messages. Their work resulted in a series of collaborative public performances that were documented with photography.
Mixed Media Project
Working in groups, students were assigned to fabricate materials in order to create an archive that tells a fictional story. Through their work, they had to address the question How can a fabrication reveal a greater truth? Pictured below is “The Archive of an Unreported Campus Sexual Assault.”
Site-specific performances with mixed media
Students were assigned to document their own daily rituals and then create a site-specific performance based on their research.
Earliest Memory Sculptures
Mixed media sculptures
Sculpture students were assigned to create a piece in a medium of their choosing that was based on their earliest memory. The resulting work explored topics including the formation of identity and the fallibility of memory.
Sculpture with brass and hand-carved mahogany
Students were assigned to create a wearable sculpture that performed a function for the wearer. Pictured is a piece called “The Personal Binary Abacus.”
