It's Like Most Things
Made in collaboration with Willy Smart, 2014
An installation consisting of a cubicle that had been emptied and fitted with an elevated floor. The floor was raised such that the average viewer’s line of sight was at the top of a partial wall separating the space from other cubicles. This allowed them to see just above the wall, revealing a new and open view of the building’s architecture without revealing the cubicle next door. Speakers in the space played an audio track that was created by playing the inverse frequencies of the hum generated by the building’s HVAC unit, and thus creating the conditions for potential noise cancellation. The speakers were housed in custom-made covers.
